Michigan district delays bond vote until November

Van Buren officials want better turnout, more time to explain proposal

The Van Buren (Mich.) school board has decided to move its proposed $80 million bond election from August to November. Officials say the later date would give the district more time to explain the request to voters. The bonds would pay for an extensive renovation and expansion of Belleville High School: adding a new gym, pool, library and media center; adding two three-story academic buildings in the front of the building; relocating athletic facilities and increasing parking.
