Maryland district to extend school day by 10 minutes

Anne Arundel principals say they need more than 6 1/2 hours a day

Anne Arundel County (Md.) schools will extend their day by 10 minutes in response to principals' concerns that the current 6 1/2 -hour day does not provide adequate time for classes and other activities. Starting this fall, the additional minutes will be tacked on to the end of the day to prevent the higher busing costs that would have accompanied earlier start times.
