Connecticut court throws out $1 million verdict awarded to principal

From The Connecticut Post: The Connecticut Supreme Court has thrown out a verdict of more than $1 million against the city of Bridgeport won by a school principal who contended that she was punished after bringing forward allegations that teachers had abused students. The court ruled in a 7-0 decision that the lawsuit brought by Carmen Perez-Dickson, now principal at Jettie Tisdale School in Bridgeport, should not have gone to a jury. The justices concluded that there was insufficient evidence that Perez-Dickson suffered discrimination, that she was treated more harshly than other employees in the workplace or suffered any extreme emotional distress. The suit had its roots in 1999, when Perez-Dickson, then principal of Beardsley School, reported to administrators that two teachers had been accused of abusing students. An assistant superintendent allegedly told Perez-Dickson her career could be in jeopardy.
