From The New Orleans Times-Picayune: The Jefferson Parish (La.) School Board has approved Superintendent James Meza's plan to downsize the central office and shift personnel and other resources to the schools. The reorganization plan eliminates 209 positions and will save the school system about $5 million a year. Meza asserts that the changes will transform the central office from a top-heavy bureaucracy to a support system that works directly with schools.
