530 school aides to be laid off in New York City

Schools have been told to cut 5% from their budgets

From The New York Daily News: New York City will lay off 530 school aides next week, despite pleas from principals who say they have enough money in their budgets to keep them, the Daily News has learned. The city Education Department has ordered schools to cut 5 percent of their budgets this year.
