Pools at 2 Illinois high schools ordered closed

Pools at Vernon Hills and Libertyville high schools need to install updated drain that provide better protection against drowning
Sept. 27, 2011

From Triblocal.com: The pools at two high schools in the suburbs of Chicago must be emptied and closed because they do not comply with a 2008 federal law requiring drains that won't trap swimmers underwater. State inspectors notified Community High School District 128 last year that the pools at Vernon Hills and Libertyville high schools needed to have updated drains installed by Oct. 1. Superintendent Prentiss Lea says the renovations have not been completed because the issue was not brought to him for placement on a priority list.
