Catholic school in Claremont, N.H., will close

Enrollment has fallen to 85 students

Emotions ran high in Claremont, N.H., after the parents of the St. Mary Catholic School's 85 students learned that the diocese will be closing the school at the end of June. Declining enrollment and the cost associated with running at Catholic schools are the reasons behind the closure, officials say. St. Mary will be the only one of 29 Catholic schools in the Diocese of Manchester that will close this year.
