After more than a year of discussions with officials of Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., late-night talk show host David Letterman has consented to letting his alma mater dedicate a $21 million communication and media building in his honor Sept. 7. Letterman graduated from Ball State in 1970 with a bachelor's in telecommunications. Construction on the 75,000-square-foot facility began in 2005. It is designed as a space for the university's emerging digital media content production facilities and will link to two existing facilities in the communication school.
