Wake County freezes hiring for middle and high school teachers

Officials fear state could impose sizable budget cuts

From The Raleigh News & Observer: The Wake County (N.C.) school system has frozen hiring for middle school and high school teachers and for elementary school teacher assistants. School officials say the hiring freeze is needed because of the uncertainty over the state budget. The school system is bracing for the adoption of a stopgap state budget plan that could result in deep education funding cuts.The hiring freeze doesn’t include elementary school teachers.
