The first phase, expected to cost nearly $3 million, will install new heating, ventilation and air conditioning on both levels of the school, reports the Daily Journal.
The high school is now only 40% air-conditioned; the project will enable the district to add air-conditioning throughout the entire building. The district will remove steam heat boilers that were installed in 1948.
The costs are being covered by federal Covid-19 aid and district fund balances.
The construction project could take three years to complete.
