Charter school will open in former office building in Spartanburg, South Carolina
Around 1,000 students will begin walking the halls later this summer at Mountain View Preparatory, a new charter school in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
The Greenville Journal reports that the school will provide students in grades seven through 12 with career and technical educations with a focus on sports and entertainment careers.
A $12 million renovation has transformed a 48,000-square-foot commercial office building into an educational facility.
“This state-of-the-art facility reinforces our commitment to providing top-notch educational programs and opportunities that foster both academic and athletic excellence,” said Traci Bryant-Riches, one of the school’s founders. “This is only the first phase of our growth plan as we continue to build facilities that match the uniqueness and creativeness of our school model.”
The school’s renovations were completed through a joint venture by Building Hope and Charter School Development Corp., two nonprofit organizations working to support charter school development.
