eVA, the commonwealth of Virginia's e-procurement system, has received the “2007 Innovation In Government Award” at the 3rd Annual Excellence in Virginia Government Awards (EVGA) Ceremony.

Since 2001, the Commonwealth has used eVA to process more than 1.5 million orders to buy $14 billion of products and services.

“eVA allows us to buy goods and services faster, easier, and at best value using a single online source, saving our taxpayers money while streamlining processing for our vendors,” says Ron Bell, director of the Division of Purchases and Supply for Virginia's Department of General Services. “Through the eVA program, we have cut order-processing costs up to 50 percent and reduced processing time in some cases up to 70 percent.”

The award program is presented by Virginia Commonwealth University's L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs.
