The Los Angeles Times reports that university has submitted the claim for damage to five buildings, several athletic fields and two garages. Among the affected facilities was the university's iconic Pauley Pavilion, where a new wooden basketball court was ruined after being inundated with water.
The water main break on July 29, 2014, sent about 20 million gallons of water into the Westwood neighborhood, much of it onto the UCLA campus.
Water department officials indicated that they expect to settle UCLA's claims by the end of the year.
