The Frisco (Texas) school district will welcome more 600 new teachers this school year to help fill out the staffs at four schools opening this fall.
The Frisco Enterprise reports that Lebanon Trail High School, Nelson Middle School, and Miller and Vaughn elementary schools are opening later this month, so the Frisco district needed to hire significantly more personnel, in addition to filling vacant positions.
This is the second consecutive year that Frisco has opened four new schools.
As of July 22, the district had hired 609 new teachers and plans to hire 12 more by the start of classes Aug. 22.
The district, one of the fastest growing in Texas and in the nation, says it enrollment grew by more than 3,600 students in 2015-16; It anticipates adding another 3,600 students in 2016-17. That would put Frisco's enrollment at more than 57,000 students.
The new campuses bring the total number of schools in the Frisco district to 68.
