Former maintenance worker says he was wrongfully fired from Hillsborough County (Fla.) district

Man was accused of campaigning on school property for a school board candidate.

A former school maintenance employee is suing the Hillsborough County (Fla.) school board for wrongful termination. The Tampa Tribune reports that  George L. Olmo, who was fired by the school district in April 2012, contends that his decision to hand out ballot petitions for a potential school board candidate did not rise to the level of campaigning on school property. Olmo also contends that the school district trumped up a charge that he commandeered a district-owned vehicle for personal use.
