Northstar Academy in Richmond, Va., has purchased a former Strayer University site for $4.5 million.

The property consists of a 21,000-square-foot building that the school plans to renovate and a 10-acre parcel on which it will build a gym and athletic fields, reports Richmond Bizsense

The move will enable the private academy, which provides instruction to K-12 students with disabilities, to consolidate all its operations in one location and give it room to grow.

The academy plans to sell its main location in Richmond, which consists of two buildings with a combined 13,000 square feet.

Northstar has roughly 125 students. The expectation is that the student population cap would be able to increase in the new facility.

The school has an $8 million campaign toward the purchase of the new building. The sale of its existing location will also enable them to pay for the new property.

Baskervill is the architect for the project and Raymond Hunt of EDC is the project manager.
