Scranton (Pa.) district settles teachers strike
Nov. 23, 2021
Students in the Scranton (Pa.) district have returned to classes after a teachers strike that halted classes for nearly three weeks.
Teachers went on strike on Nov. 3 after being without a contract or pay increase since 2017, reports WYOU Channel 22 News. The walkout affected about 10,000 students.
The Scranton Federation of Teachers and the district reached a tentative agreement Friday evening, and students returned to school on Monday.
Scranton teachers still must vote the tentative contract. Terms of the agreement will be made public after the deal becomes official.
