The French-American School of New York in Westchester County has ended an 11-year quest to consolidate its campus on a former country club in White Plains.

Real Estate In-Depth reports that the French-American School has sold the planned site--a 130-acre tract that once housed Ridgeway Country Club--to a home builder for $16.5 million.

The school's original construction plans called for consolidating its Scarsdale, Mamaroneck and Larchmont schools at the White Plains site. After objections by neighbors, The plans were downsized, but community opposition continued, and the school decided instead to sell the land.

The French-American School of New York is a bilingual day school on three campuses with more than 720 students from nursery school through grade 12.
