Emporia (Kan.) district is replacing early childhood center
The Emporia (Kan.) school board has voted to close the Maynard Early Childhood Center.
The newly built Jones Early Childhood Development Center will replace the Maynard facility, reports The Emporia Gazette.
Superintendent Allison Anderson Harder says with the new facility complete, the district has no need for the Maynard building. The district will begin pursuing bids for the sale of the facility, reports KVOE.com.
According to the district's website, the Jones Early Childhood Development Center will feature expanded classrooms and learning environments, student support spaces, and indoor activity areas. Outdoor playgrounds will feature age-appropriate areas for play and exploration.
It is slated to open later this month.
