Milton Hershey School in Hershey, Pa., is expanding
Milton Hershey School, a co-residential school and home for low-income students in grades pre-k through 12th in Hershey, Pa., is expanding.
The school will move into the Hershey Theater to provide offices and meeting spaces for the school and the Catherine Hershey Schools for Early Learning, the school says in a news release.
The theater has about 46,000 square feet of space, and the entire building is over 200,000 square feet. The Hershey Trust Company purchased the rest of the building for $6.5 million.
Constructed in the 1930s, the building was once the Hershey Community Building. Over the years the building has housed the Hershey Theatre, which is now being donated to the M.S. Hershey Foundation and will continue to provide programs and events.
The M.S. Hershey Foundation has been operating the Hershey Theatre since 1970.
