Eastern Michigan University sells College of Business building in Ypsilanti for $2.6 million
Eastern Michigan University has sold its former College of Business building in downtown Ypsilanti to Michigan Innovation Headquarters for $2.6 million.
The company will use the Gary Owens Building as its third location and fourth building, the university says in a news release.
Eastern Michigan University students, faculty, and staff have wanted to return the college of business to the central campus. In 2020, the college temporarily relocated to Hill Hall, on the north end of campus. The move provided easier access for students, faculty, and staff, and the university is continuing to review on-campus locations for the college’s permanent home.
Michigan Innovation's plans for the building include renovation of the street-level entrance to establish an inviting introduction
Proceeds from the Owens Building sale will be directed to bolster university reserves.
