Teachers in Columbus (Ohio) district go on strike days before classes resume
Columbus (Ohio) district teachers have voted to go on strike, days before classes are set to resume.
CNN reports that unresolved issues include class sizes and heating and air conditioning systems in classrooms, according to Columbus Education Association's notice of intent to strike.
The district said the school year is still scheduled to begin on Wednesday, with classes being held online and led by substitutes. The district said its own administrators may also teach online classes while the strike continues.
The strike also may affect sporting events and activities because teachers make up most the district's coaching staff.
The district serves about 47,000 students.
