Nominations sought for custodian recognition program

Sept. 22, 2020
The Custodians Are Key contest is looking to single out exemplary K-12 school custodians.

Nominations are being sought for the second annual Custodians Are Key program, which recognizes the accomplishments of K-12 school custodians.

School administrators, teachers, and parents are urged to nominate custodians “who are making their schools better, going above and beyond their daily jobs, and showing students and staff they care.” Submissions are being accepted from Sept. 15 to Nov. 15 at tennantco.com/custodian.

The recognition program was initiated last year by the Tennant Company, a provider of cleaning supplies and solutions.

Twelve finalists will be chosen from the field of nominees. Finalists receive a $500 gift card; the grand prize winner will receive $5,000, and his or her school will receive $10,000.

The grand prize winner in the inaugural year of Custodians Are Key was Kris Kantor, custodian at Hayes Elementary School in Lakewood, Ohio.

Kantor was one of 2,000 custodians nominated in the first year of the program.
