School bus crash in North Carolina sends 15 students, two drivers to hospital
Fifteen students and two adults were injured when a Charlotte-Mecklenburg (N.C.) district school bus and a dump truck collided head on.
The bus was headed to headed to South Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte Wednesday morning when the crash occurred, reports WSOC-TV.
Each of the drivers was trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated.
The dump truck driver sustained life-threatening injuries. The bus driver did not suffer life-threatening injuries, The Charlotte Observer reports.
The students' injuries also were described as non-life-threatening. Fourteen students were taken to area hospitals, and one student refused hospitalization.
