Ball State University is building an amphitheater on campus
Ball State University is building an outdoor performance and gathering space on its Muncie, Ind., campus.
The university says in a news release that a $2.8 million gift from alumnus Charles W. Brown will pay for construction of the Brown Family Amphitheater.
"The beauty of our campus is one of the many reasons students choose Ball State University,” says President Geoffrey S. Mearns. “The Brown Family Amphitheater will strengthen that appeal. It will also deepen our commitment to inspiring students by providing a variety of performances as well as a gathering space for outdoor activities, which will encourage innovation.”
Brown’s $2.8 million gift is in addition to an initial $250,000 gift to design the amphitheater.
Once complete, the Brown Family Amphitheater will offer artists and audiences an impressive performance facility. In addition to a stage, the facility will feature dressing rooms, a green room, storage space, a control room, and a loading dock.
The facility will have a booth/mix station with a lightboard, soundboard, and more with a line of sight to the stage. It also will have elevated spotlights, distributed power throughout the venue, motors and truss lighting over the stage.
