When it opens next week, Peavine Hall will provide living space for 600 students.

The University of Nevada Reno will welcome students next week to Peavine Hall, a new 600-student residence hall.

The university says the five-story facility will feature suite-style living for 600 students. The complex has been designed with a goal of achieving a LEED Gold rating for environmentally friendly elements. It has modern security systems, a bicycle storage room, energy- and water-efficient systems and LED lighting.

Students living there will participate in wellness-themed educational opportunities.

"For several years, we've stressed the 'total' well-being of our students in our equation for their ultimate success," University President Marc Johnson says. "Excellent academics and experiential learning are at the heart of what we do. Intertwined with this equation for success is health and wellness. Peavine Hall is a physical manifestation of this approach."
