New Jersey college unveils student housing in mixed-use development

The College of New Jersey's $120 million Campus Town project, a public-private development on the edge of the Ewing, N.J., campus that includes housing for 446 students, will welcome its first residents this weekend.

NJ.com reports that community members were given their first glimpse of the project earlier this week. Work is still continuing on the ground-floor retailers, but students will begin moving into the 446 one-, two- and four-bedroom apartments on Sunday.

A second phase of the development is scheduled that will add two residential buildings and 166 beds next summer.

The project is situated on 12 acres adjacent to the college campus and includes 278,000 square feet of housing and amenities. The college says Campus Town "is envisioned to be a sustainable, walkable and environmentally responsible complex" that will strengthen the institution's relationship with the surrounding community.
