The 375-capacity Osprey Suites will open at about half capacity because of Covid-19

The University of South Florida St. Petersburg has completed construction of a $33 million residence hall.

The Tampa Bay Business Journal reports that the five-story 125,000-square-foot residence hall, Osprey Suites, has a 375-bed capacity. It is the third residence hall on campus and increases on-campus student housing capacity by almost 70 percent.

“The opening of this beautiful new residence hall is a major milestone for our campus and our university,” said Martin Tadlock, regional chancellor of USF’s St. Petersburg campus.

The residence hall will remain at roughly half capacity—about 173 students—to accommodate social distancing and combat the spread of Covid-19.

The building has a first-floor lounge, a study area with a community kitchen and a full-service dining facility, which will open for the spring 2021 semester.

The architect is Beck Group.
