The Kettering, Ohio, City Council has voted to sell a three-acre site to The Modern College of Design for the possible construction of a $10 million student housing development.

The Dayton Daily News reports that the project would be the college's first student housing on its Kettering campus.

The development would house about 100 students and take two years to build, College President Jessica Barry said.

“Offering student housing will allow us to expand our recruitment efforts and attract creative and diverse students, both nationally and internationally, to Kettering,” Barry said.

The Modern College of Design was founded in 1983. It has invested more than $7 million in expanding and renovating the campus since 2017 to accommodate growing enrollment, Barry said.

Each year, about 60% to 70% of the college’s student body relocates to Kettering to attend the school, the college says.

It now partners with Collegiate Housing Services to assist students in finding accommodations in the Kettering area.
