Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, has completed construction of a $24 million residence hall for members of the Jesuit community.
The Omaha World Herald reports that the four-level 37,779-square-foot Jerome Nadal SJ Jesuit Residence has 28 bedrooms with private bathrooms, an expansive dining hall, a library and a communal kitchen, among other amenities. Funded entirely by donations, it will be the home for Creighton's residential and visiting Jesuits.
One standout feature is the 961-square-foot Our Lady Montserrat Chapel tucked behind floor-to-ceiling glass windows.
The residence hall will bring the university's Jesuits under one roof. It replaces Ignatius Hall, which was torn down to make way for the new hall.
"This is a remarkable upgrade from where they were in simple buildings," said the Rev. Daniel Hendrickson, Creighton president.
In addition to the private living areas, the residence hall has communal areas for Mass in the chapel, meeting rooms and spiritual spaces for groups and organizations.
