The $38 million residence hall will be named Prefontaine Hall in honor of Andy Prefontaine, an alumnus from the Class of 1971 and founder and CEO of Family Leisure in Indianapolis. Prefontaine provided a multi-million donation that will help pay for the facility.
Vice President for Student Affairs Russell Mast said the new hall will feature an open-style lobby area, a lounge space, and a central kitchen adjacent to the lobby. Most of the rooms will be four-person suites with a shared bathroom.
Completion is planned for Spring 2026.
Morehead State also plans to construct a second new residence hall. This project will house about 80 students and will be built near the existing Normal Hall. Normal Hall, constructed in 1967, will be razed over the summer.
