A season of transition is well underway at Houghton College, Houghton, N.Y. It has expanded its varsity sports offerings to 18; joined the Empire 8 Conference of NCAA Division III; and begun development of the Kerr-Pegula Athletic Complex.

When complete, the multi-million dollar project will include a multi-sport field turf facility and multipurpose fieldhouse. The field turf facility will provide playing surfaces for soccer, field hockey and lacrosse teams (phase I), and baseball and softball stadiums (phase II).

The fieldhouse (phase III), which will accommodate events for up to 6,000 people, will include a 200-meter indoor track with designated areas for field events; tennis courts; an indoor practice space for field sports; lockers rooms; weightrooms; athletic training/sports medicine area; concession venues; restrooms; storage; and offices.

Phase I of the three-phase project was completed last August; and the final two phases are scheduled for completion in spring 2014.

Keystone Associates Architects, Engineers and Surveyors, LLC, (Binghamton, N.Y.) is architect/engineer for the project.
