Utah Valley University acquires land for satellite campus in Payson
Utah Valley University has acquired 38.7 acres of land in Payson, Utah, for a future satellite campus.
The university, based in Orem, says in a news release that Payson site is northeast of the Payson power plant.
“It is no secret that the south end of Utah County is growing,” says Astrid S. Tuminez, Utah Valley president. “The acquisition of the Payson land demonstrates UVU’s ongoing commitment to providing exceptional education in affordable and innovative ways in our service area."
A construction timeline for the satellite campus is still to be determined.
The university says Payson is an ideal campus site for many reasons, including its proximity to a future FrontRunner commuter rail station. It will also benefit from the Utah Department of Transportation’s planned freeway interchange on the north end of Payson.
“I am extremely excited that UVU is building a campus in Payson,” says Payson Mayor Bill Wright. “UVU has a stellar reputation, and we welcome it with open arms in Payson.”
