Planned building at Colorado State will focus on engineering and technology
Colorado State University has announced plans to build a 165,000-square-foot facility focused on engineering and technology.
The Coloradoan reports that the Don and Susie Law Engineering Future Technologies Building will emphasize “the ways that digital technology and AI will transform engineering and all disciplines,” University President Amy Parsons says.
The facility will be built on the Fort Collins campus on the site of the existing Glover Building. It is scheduled to open in January 2028. The total cost of the new facility has not been disclosed.
Plans for the project grew out of discussions with Colorado State alums Don and Susie Law in 2020. They committed an initial gift of $10 million to the building that will bear their names. Students agreed to provide $50 million in support through student fees, Parsons said, an amount the Scott Family Foundation has agreed to match.
The building will serve as an interdisciplinary learning hub, “featuring state-of-art classrooms, laboratories and innovation spaces,” the university says.
The facility will be under the umbrella of the College of Engineering, but the goal is to bring together people throughout campus who can benefit from the integration of digital technology and artificial intelligence, says Allen Robinson, dean of the College of Engineering.
