Fort Worth (Texas) school district voters have approved a $1.2 billion bond proposal--the largest ever in the district--but they also rejected three other requests totaling $278 million.
Most of the money is earmarked for improving the district's aging middle schools, reports KXAS-TV Channel 5 News.
By a narrow margin, voters approved Proposition A, which allocates $1.2 billion to renovate all the district's middle schools, and build or renovate several elementary schools.
The three defeated proposals:
- A $98 million plan to upgrade the district's auditoriums and fine arts facilities.
- A $104 million proposal to build and equip stadiums.
- A $76 million plan to renovate recreational facilities and replace turf at athletic stadiums.
