Only one of three questions in the district's $772 million bond package won approval--a $33.3 million package of technology upgrades.
Voters in the fast-growing Leander (Texas) district have rejected the lion's share of a $772.2 million bond proposal that would have paid for construction of several schools.
Only one of the questions put before voters was approved -- a $33.3 million package for broadband improvements and other technology upgrades, reports The Austin American-Statesman.
Voters rejected a$727.2 million request that would have paid for construction of at least five schools and renovations at 13 existing campuses. A $11.7 million proposal to renovate performing arts centers and auditoriums in high schools also failed to win approval.
The district has projected that enrollment in Leander schools will grow by 12,400 in the next decade.
