The Gibraltar Area (Wis.) School Board has placed a $29.8 million on the April 4 ballot to renovate its K-12 campus in Fish Creek.
The Door County Pulse reports that much of the planned work would focus on replacing the 1930 and 1950 middle school classroom, gym and office sections.
The board also hired CG Schmidt as the construction manager and Plunkett Raysich Architects as architect for the campus renovation.
Gibraltar Superintendent Brett Stousland said the firms have experience with projects in which construction took place while students were in session; that would be necessary at Gibraltar.
An assessment last year of the Gibraltar campus found that it would take $50 million to modernize classroom spaces and correct all of the problems and shortcomings in the existing structures on the campus.
CG Schmidt told the board that the district could correct structural, window, door, safety and security problems; demolish and replace the oldest sections of the campus; and build and equip additions for more classrooms for about $30 million.
