Charter facility hopes to be first LEED-certified building in Cabarrus County, N.C.
Carolina International School, a charter school in Harrisburg, N.C., is building a new facility that it hopes will become the first LEED-certified building in Cabarrus County. The 26,000-square-foot, $5.5 million facility will be the school’s first permanent school building--for now, it uses portable classrooms. Eventually the new building will house grades 7 to 12. Currently, the school serves students in grades K to 9 and plans to add a grade each year until it has a full high school program. The architect is Perkins + Will.
