The Hernando County (Fla.) district is planning a $48 million high school that it hopes will earn a silver LEED rating. The 2,200-student campus is expected to open in 2010. Preliminary plans include environmentally friendly elements, including split air-conditioning systems and waterless urinals. Solar panels will supplement power sources, and daylighting will be used where possible. The architect is SchenkelShultz.
