Pinellas County (Fla.) district seeks LEED certification for new elementary

Tarpon Springs school will be designed to enhance energy efficiency and water conservation.
Construction is under way for the $23 million Tarpon Springs (Fla.) Elementary School, which has been designed to earn green building certification under the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED program. The 110,000-square-foot Pinellas County school will have six buildings and is being designed and constructed to be more water and energy efficient with a focus on using recycled and locally manufactured materials.
