Illinois lawmakers approve green cleaning bill

Legislation would require schools to use green-cleaning products.
June 11, 2007

The Illinois General Assembly has approved legislation to mandate the use of green cleaning in school facilities. The bill would direct all elementary and secondary schools in the state to use environmentally sensitive cleaning supplies. The state’s Green Government Coordinating Council will determine specific standards for green products within six months, and schools will devise plans to meet the standards. Gov. Rod Blagojevich is expected to sign the bill into law.
