Two campuses in the West Burlington (Iowa) school district will soon have solar panels systems to reduce energy costs.

The Hawk Eye  reports that West Burlington Arnold Jr./Sr. High School and West Burlington Elementary will add solar paneling on portions on their roofs. A solar panel canopy also will be built on the south side of the elementary school.

Red Lions Renewables, a solar energy company, will oversee the project.

The solar panels are expected to save the district between $1.68 million and $1.76 million over 30 years.

Construction on the project is scheduled to begin sometime in October.
