3 residence halls earn LEED rating at Shippensburg University
The three newest residence halls at Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pa., have received LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Lackhove, Kieffer and McCune halls opened in August 2014 in the second phase of a campus housing project. The three residence halls have nearly 400 total student units with more than 900 beds.
Presidents, Seavers and Naugle halls, built in the first phase of construction, also received LEED certification. They opened in August 2012.
“The students involved on the housing committee wanted to pursue construction that would make the buildings eligible for LEED certification,” says Frank Klink, accountant and contract administrator for Shippensburg University Student Services Inc. "That was important to them."
