Where there's smoke, colleges are gradually snuffing it out. Now they're
training their sights on residence halls, often the last bastions of tobacco on campus
. Those schools here that are hesitating might find encouragement in a new study from the Harvard School of Public Health. It argues that colleges should provide smoke-free housing to protect nonsmoking students from secondhand smoke.
