Construction costs at Vashon High School in St. Louis have climbed substantially, and some alumni and former school officials are fuming over a decision

to eliminate a 600-seat auditorium because of rising costs

. Original estimates for the project totaled $30.3 million. Now, costs have topped $35 million, despite the decision to eliminate the $2 million auditorium.
