Clif Drummond, the 1966 University of Texas student body president, has never forgotten the day in 1966 when Charles Whitman opened fire from atop the UT Tower. But the memories have never come back quite as vividly as they did Monday, when he heard about the killing of more than 30 people at Virginia Tech, an incident that eclipsed the Whitman event and is the deadliest shooting attack in U.S. history.
