Energy Savings at Texas Christian University
Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth is a private institution established in 1873 that enrolls more than 10,000 students.
In 2018, TCU was approached by Armstrong Fluid Technology to upgrade three constant-speed pumps in the University Recreation Center. The project presented a number of challenges, including the limited access at the site for removal and installation of the pumps.
As a result of the university’s pump retrofit project, TCU is saving more than $7,500 a year, resulting in a 63% efficiency improvement. In addition, annual CO2 emissions were reduced by 50,000 kilograms.
TCU now has easy access to pump operation data showing flow, head, power usage and revolutions per minute, as well as constant data-logging and performance monitoring.

Today’s LEDs may last 50,000 hours, but Kalwall® will be harvesting sunlight into museum-quality daylighting™ without using any energy for a lot longer. The fact that it also enhances learning, while insulating more like a wall than a window, is just extra credit.
