Community College in Kentucky reopens Barnes & Noble campus bookstore

Henderson Community College relocated the store from a campus building that was structurally deficient.
April 28, 2021

Henderson Community College in Henderson, Ky., has reopened its Barnes & Noble bookstore at a new campus location.

The Henderson Gleaner reports that the store has been moved to the first floor of the Academic and Technical Building. The college administration wants students to use the part of the building for not only studying, but also socializing.

The bookstore had been in the Student Center Building, which was constructed in 1972 and closed in 2020.

College President Jason Warren says the building "was structurally and functionally inadequate….Engineers determined it would be impossible to bring it up to code, and renovation would not be cost-effective."

The bookstore now occupies space where the dental program and the college’s Head Start Program were. Those will be relocated to a different part of the campus.
