University of Mississippi gets $10 million donation to help build new home for accountancy school

Nov. 12, 2024
The university has planned a 100,000-square-foot facility on the Oxford campus for the Patterson School of Accountancy.

A $10 million donation will help the University of Mississippi in Oxford construct a new home for the Patterson School of Accountancy.

The building will be named Jones Hall to recognize the gift from Jonathan B. Jones, CEO of Jones Capital. The 100,000-square-foot, $125 million academic facility is to be built at the corner of University Avenue and Grove Loop.

When completed, the building will free up space in Conner Hall so that the School of Business Administration can expand.

The university says the four-story building will have tiered auditoriums and classrooms. There will be conference rooms for group projects, space to study alone, and office suites for faculty and staff.

The new facility will be an important recruiting tool for top faculty and students, the university says. The additional space will enable the entire department to be housed under the same roof to provide an even stronger sense of community.
