South Windsor (Conn.) district receives $22 million to replace elementary school
Pleasant Valley Elementary in South Windsor, Conn., is receiving $22 million in state funding for construction of an elementary school.
The project is part of the South Windsor district's 10-year plan to replace every elementary with a new building. Pleasant Valley School would be the final building to be replaced under the plan, reports Journal Inquirer.
Voters approved $58.5 million in local spending for the project in March, and officials have said the construction is expected to last 15 or 16 months.
The existing school has 43,300 square feet of space and 4,000 square feet of portable classrooms. The replacement facility will be more than double in size with 102,000 square feet of space.
The new Pleasant Valley is expected to accommodate about 700 elementary school students and 110 half-time preschool students.
The project is expected to be completed in June 2023.
